Women are my muse. Their presence is a constant source of inspiration for me. I try to capture the essence of women in portraits or in allegorical images or in random expressions that reveal themselves. Transience and mysticism are underlying themes. Wonder is also my source of inspiration. I am constantly looking for the essence of things that move me, that fascinate me. In oil paint I create my own visual language, my own experience of a scene or of the character of a person or animal. Sometimes I work opaque, sometimes in layer upon layer to achieve the desired result. In the final phase I sometimes use a layer of gold paint.
